Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships 2023 | Fully Funded

International students are invited to apply for the fully funded Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarship for the years 2023-2024 academic year. This scholarship is available in Germany for undergraduate and postgraduate study and will cover a basic income of up to €850 per month, health insurance costs, and, where available, family and infant allowances.

  • Program: Undergraduate / Masters / PhD / Diploma
  • Deadline:
    • Masters: May 31, 2023 for summer semester / November 30, 2023 for winter semester
    • Bachelor / Diploma / Magister students as well as students aiming for a state examination: After the 1st semester and later. up to 3 semesters before the end of the standard period of study
    • Medical students: After the 4th semester or after the physics until the end of the 6th semester
    • PhD students: At any time

This fellowship is given to up to 40 outstanding students and includes a complete seminar program designed to assist candidates improve their social and intellectual skills. Students from any subject area are eligible to apply if they have demonstrated exceptional scholastic or intellectual merit, a desire to study in Germany, and a commitment to social democratic ideas.

Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships Benefits

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships provide the following benefits to the recipients:

  • In a Bachelor’s, Diploma, Magister, or state examination program, a monthly stipend of EUR 750 is provided.
  • In a Master’s program, a monthly stipend of EUR 850 is provided.
  • Health insurance costs are covered, and scholars with children receive a EUR 276 family stipend.
  • The scholarship does not need repayment.

Applicants for the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships must meet the following requirements:

  • English and German are required languages.
  • Gifted individuals from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe are eligible.
  • The aptitudes and personalities of the candidates show great potential for a successful academic or professional career.
  • Enrollment or admission to a German state or state-recognized higher education institution.
  • Although the classes are held in English, sufficient understanding of German is required. This requires a DSH level 2 ‘Deutsche Sprachprüfung für dem Hochschulzugang,’ a DSH level 4 ‘Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache,’ or a Goethe Institute’s ‘Zertifikat C 1’.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to social democratic values.
  • Above-average academic and study performance.
  • Personality – we are seeking for people who have the following characteristics:

How to Apply for Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Scholarships

How can I apply for Friedrich Ebert Stiftung scholarships 2023? To apply for this scholarship, please follow the instructions below:

1. Complete the online application form. We’ll ask you a few questions about your work and family history, but no other documentation is required. You can contact our approximately 480 liaison professors if you have any questions or need to speak with us before submitting your application. (Please double-check the dates and deadlines!) 2. If you are eligible for a scholarship, we will send you additional documentation through email, including two expert reports from university professors, information about your previous training, and information about your socio-political commitment. In their first semester, first-year students (not master’s students) submit two reports from prior teachers.

You have three weeks to upload the papers after we request them. After conversation with us, the expert opinion will take six weeks. While you wait for our response, we recommend that you put the documents together.
