The Dutch government is offering international students a Holland scholarship for the academic year 2023-2024. This award is accessible for undergraduate and master’s studies, and the winner will get € 5,000 to cover tuition costs.

Non-EEA international students can apply for the Holland Scholarship to pursue undergraduate and graduate studies at Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. The Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science awards the Holland Scholarship to outstanding students.

The Holland Scholarship is for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who desire to study in the Netherlands for their bachelor’s or master’s degree.

Holland Scholarship Requirements

Candidates must meet all of the following conditions to be considered for the Holland Scholarship:

  • English is required.
  • Non-EEA international students are eligible.
  • You are applying to one of the participating Dutch higher education institutions for a full-time bachelor’s or master’s program.
  • You are not an EEA national.
  • You meet the specific standards of your chosen institution. These can be found on the institution’s website.
  • You do not hold a diploma from a Dutch educational institution.

How to apply for Holland Scholarship

What is the procedure for applying for the Holland Scholarship?

To apply for the Holland Scholarship, please follow the steps below:

  • Fill out the Holland Scholarship application.
  • An overview of participating Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences, as well as specified areas of study, can be found here.
  • Write a motivation letter to the institution (max. 500 words) in which you explain why you are a bright student, taking into account both your academic achievements and extracurricular activities (e.g. voluntary work).
  • Indicate that you are applying for the Holland Scholarship in your online application, and upload your scholarship motivation letter where indicated. If you have been awarded a scholarship, you will be contacted by the university.
