McDonald Fellowships 2023 are fully funded Master’s and PhD scholarships for foreign students. These scholarships are for master’s and doctoral students. The fellowship includes a two-year stipend of roughly £30,000 GBP each year to cover travel and living expenses, as well as a £2,000 GBP per year gift to the host university.

Early-career multiple sclerosis research students from low- and middle-income countries can apply for the McDonald Fellowship to work in a research institution outside of their home country. It is expected that recipients of the scholarship will be able to use their newly acquired skills and networks to continue MS research and/or patient treatment in low- and middle-income countries after receiving the grant.

McDonald Fellowships will provide the following incentives to the recipient:

  • The living and travel expenses for a fellow will be £30,000 GBP per year.
  • The institute of a fellow will receive £2,000 GBP.

McDonald Fellowships Requirements

To be considered for a McDonald Fellowship, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:

  • English is a required language.
  • International students from low- and middle-income countries are eligible.
  • A candidate must be a Master’s student, PhD, or MD at the very least.
  • If a candidate is working on multiple sclerosis in another low- or middle-income country, he or she is also eligible.
  • Because the applicant and host institute will be working together on the application, a candidate must choose his or her host institute before applying.

  • At the time of nomination, you must be working or studying in a low- or middle-income country (all nations with a low, lower middle, or higher middle income as defined by the World Bank).

  • Studying in a different country as part of a project funded by the MS International Federation.

How to Apply for McDonald Fellowships

To apply for a McDonald Fellowship, please follow the steps outlined below:

  • Complete the online application form in its entirety.
  • At the end of the application, the Host must give a supporting statement.
  • Include the names and contact information for three referees, one of whom should be the applicant’s current supervisor or employer.
  • Request that referees send their letters to [email protected] before the deadline.
