The Gates Scholarship Requirements
Candidates must meet all of the following conditions to be considered for The Gates Scholarship program:
- English is a required language.
- Only US citizens are eligible.
- A senior in high school.
- You must be of one of the following ethnicities: American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American
- A citizen, national, or permanent resident of the United States.
- In good academic standing, with a cumulative weighted GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
- A student must also plan to enroll full-time in a four-year degree program at a US accredited, non-profit, private or public college or university.
- An ideal candidate will have:
- A strong academic record in high school (ranking in the top 10% of his or her graduating class).
- Leadership abilities must be demonstrated (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)
- Outstanding personal success abilities (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.).
Note: Proof of tribal enrollment will be required for American Indian/Alaska Native applicants.
